"The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want."

Psalm 23:1

Jesus declared, "I am the Good Shepherd."

"Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture."

Psalm 100:3

W. Phillip Keller, in his beloved book A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23, offers a gentle and profound perspective on one of the most cherished passages in Scripture. Drawing from his years as a shepherd in East Africa and his later work in agricultural research and land stewardship in British Columbia, Keller writes with the heart of someone who truly understands what it means to care for sheep—and to be cared for.

I’m currently reading A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 for the second time. The first time was to gather understanding; this time, I’m reading slowly, seeking wisdom, insight, and a deeper connection to my own walk with the Good Shepherd.

In this blog, “The Word,” I’ll be sharing reflections from my journey through Keller’s book, alongside the ultimate guide for life: the Bible. My prayer is that these thoughts will encourage and uplift you as we walk together under the loving care of our Shepherd.
